The coconut is an exotic fruit derived from the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera), a palm tree belonging to the Arecaceae family. It grows mainly along the coasts of subtropical Asia and Oceania. For a long time, coconut oil was overlooked due to its high content of saturated fatty acids. Today, however, it is experiencing renewed interest precisely because of its fatty acid profile. It is composed mainly of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs).
MCTs are rapidly absorbed in the digestive tract because they do not require bile or digestive enzymes to be metabolized. They therefore represent a readily available source of energy for the body. This is why they are of interest to athletes, people who have difficulty digesting fats (pancreatic disorders, chronic diarrhea, premature infants), and those following a ketogenic diet.
Organic coconut MCTs derived from virgin coconut oil.
